Viruses, Spyware and Trojans: Protect Yourself

You find yourself surfing aimlessly online. You download a few programs from some unsuspecting sites. You run searches on certain celebrities that leads you to dead ends. You’re doing everything that every online user does. And like every other internet user, you’re doomed to discover that you’ve contracted something. You have not contracted something, per say. Rather, your computer has contracted something.

You live in a world of malicious internet attacks. Your computer is vulnerable to viruses, spyware, trojans and other disturbing attacks. For some reason, there are hackers who think that unleashing their evil creations on other people’s computers will make some sort of difference. In essence, they’re just merely inconveniences for the rest of society.

There are numerous ways to protect yourself from malware. And there are also many free options.

Download a free antivirus software. There are numerous free software out there that can constantly protect your computer from the wrongdoings of harmful technology. Also, be sure to update your antivirus software.

Download a cleaner. Get a cleaner to toss out any unnecessary items in your computer. You can run a daily clean on your computer and aside from catching harmful files, it can also delete any computer clutter.

Get smart. You may receive an email from a family member with a link that you have never seen before. Or you may be on a search engine and come across an unfamiliar website with warning flags all over it. Don’t click on a link with an unfamiliar address. If you do not know what it is, simply don’t click on it. Also, don’t download anything that you’re uncertain about. Even if a family member sends you something to download, many email programs offer a scan to see if there’s anything harmful in it. If it’s not automated, take advantage of this scan.
